This is the weekly Intelligence briefing for August 24–30, 2026 — the week of the $80k breakout, Jackson Hole's first official crypto agenda, and TRON's 400M-accounts milestone. Each answer is 1–2 paragraphs, stays inside the cited sources, and links its data.

This edition covers the week of August 24–30, 2026.

1. Stablecoins: How Is the Stablecoin Market Performing?

Stablecoin supply accelerated. Over the week, Circle's supply rose ~$1.7B and Tether's ~$0.2B, with combined growth across TRON, Solana and HyperEVM of ~$1.97B (Hotcoin Research). USDT on TRON crossed $94B — a record — and TRON led 30-day USDT growth at +$1.1B (Token Terminal). The last full market snapshot was $306.5B (Aug 16); the week's issuer-level expansions point to a higher current total pending the next print. Dominance is unchanged: USDT ~60%, USDC ~23%.

2. Payments: How Are On-Chain Payments and Transfers Performing?

TRON's payment story hit two milestones: 400 million total accounts (Aug 23 — just over eight years from genesis, faster than Bitcoin's 9.4 years or Ethereum's 10+) and USDT supply above $94B. Cumulative transactions exceed 15.2B with ~$29T in cumulative transfer volume. The most recent weekly volume reference remains the $161.8B record (Jul 31–Aug 6) and ~$23.8B daily average; the current-week KuCoin report lands Mon Aug 31 and will show whether the $80k macro week converted into new transfer-volume records.

3. PayFi & Infrastructure: What Happened in Payment Finance and Infrastructure?

Three infrastructure signals this week: (1) the SEC sent a crypto custody reform proposal to the White House (Aug 27) — the institutional on-ramp for payment products; (2) TRON was added to the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index, completing an institutional access stack that includes custody (Anchorage), tokenization (Securitize) and derivatives (Bitnomial); and (3) Bitcoin.com Wallet added native TRON support (Aug 21), widening retail distribution for TRON-based USDT payments.

4. Adoption & Regulation: What Happened with Merchant Adoption and Regulation?

Jackson Hole (Aug 27–29) put crypto on the official agenda for the first time under the theme 'Financial Innovation: Implications for Payments and Policy'; Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Aug 28 address struck a cautiously optimistic tone without committing to a September cut. The CLARITY Act's September path remains the key legislative catalyst (Senate returns Sept 14). No major Visa/Mastercard/PayPal announcement fell inside the window; we note the absence rather than speculate.

5. Outlook: What Deserves Attention in the Week Ahead?

Watch items: (1) the KuCoin TRON weekly report (Mon Aug 31) — whether transfer volume set a record in the $80k week; (2) CLARITY Act movement before the Senate's Sept 14 return; (3) ETF flow follow-through after two consecutive strong weeks (~$1.92B then ~$2.61B); (4) stablecoin supply — whether the surge extends; (5) energy rental pricing — whether sustained volume growth lifts quotes off the 18 SUN floor. These are watch items, not predictions: we flag what could move payment infrastructure and why, and we will check next week which materialized.
